Spring 2017

Regionals

Fair Oaks, IN : May 6-7, 2017 | Record: 1-6 | Tourney Champs: Michigan

After a season featuring much growth and development, the University of Kentucky KULT returned to Regionals for the 2nd straight year facing some of the top competition nationwide. After an underwhelming pool play finish of 0-5, Kentucky ended up winning a Sunday game against Grand Valley St. and finishing 11th place. While they finished in the same spot as the previous year, there is a lot to look forward to as KULT only plans on graduating 1 senior from this year's class, but expects to groom an experienced rising senior class as well as return a star studded line of 10+ rookies.

Sectionals

Indianapolis, IN : April 22-23, 2017 | Record: 2-3 | Tourney Champs: Notre Dame

At the first event in our 2017 post season, KULT struggled early against Louisville before coming back to win 11-9 against our instate foes. After knocking off USI, KULT had an incredible showing against Purdue, but ended falling 2 points short of victory in the final round of pool play. On Sunday morning, KULT got one of it's biggest signature wins in program history finally knocking off the Indiana HoosierMama's 13-10 to secure a bid to Regionals for the second striaght year. Kult ended sectionals in 3rd place behind Purdue and Notre Dame.

CWRUL Memorial

Columbus, OH : April 1-2, 2017 | Record: 2-5 | Tourney Champs: Franciscan

After disappointing pool and crossover play, KULT found themselves in a 0-4 hole moving into Sunday with losses to Michigan St., Carnegie Mellon, Pitt (B), and Shippensburg. Finding themselves in a tough bracket match up with Kalamazoo, KULT finally ended up getting back on track late in the tourney to beat Valparaiso and avenge their Pitt (B) loss beating the teams by 5 and 2 respectively. This final regular season tournament didn't go as hoped, but KULT still managed to solidify a top 10 finish at a solid tournament by finishing in 9th place.

Terminus

Atlanta, GA : March 4, 2017 | Record: 3-4 | Tourney Champs: Tennessee

Terminus was quite the roller coaster ride for KULT. After earning significant respect at TTown earlier in the season, KULT went into Terminus being ranked #1 overall. However, after sloppy play and injuries to a few key starters, KULT found themselves in a hole after pool play was over finishing with a record of 1-2. The crossover didn't offer much of a rebound either. In a game filled with errors, including a dropped pull from KULT's most veteran and sure handed player, Kentucky finished Saturday at 1-3. However, the tourney format came to save the day as KULT barely squeaked into the bracket as the lowest seed. After a rejuvenating rest, Kentucky came out much cleaner Sunday to knock off Kennesaw St. by 4 and avenge their Mississippi loss by 4 points as well and found themselves somehow playing for the title. After a heartbreaking loss in the championship to Tennessee 9-11, Kentucky took 2nd place in a very unconventional way - with a losing record on the weekend.

T-Town Throwdown

Tuscaloosa, AL : February 11-12, 2017 | Record: 5-2 | Tourney Champs: LSU

The University of Kentucky KULT did not disappoint in the regular season debut of their vastly new and upstart team. After being seeded 12th overall entering the tournament, KULT fell only 1 point shy of shocking DIII nationals powerhouse UAH before pulling off a universe point upset against UAB and fending off Mississippi St. in pool play. After a tough match up against Illinois St. in the first round of bracket play, KULT won out against Vanderbilt and Harding to secure 5th place and break 7 seeds on the weekend. Ladies and gentlemen, a new KULT era has begun.
